Russ is Rex's General Manager and Chief Engineer. A major influence Portland’s post production scene since the 1970's, he brings a broad base of experience to every enterprise. Known for his polished style and creative flair, he can make your recordings truly sing. Award winning and technically savvy, Russ knows excellence when he hears it.
5.1 Surround Sound, Music Creation & Production. With over a decade of experience working as an engineer and producer
in commercial studios in the Portland area, and additional years
performing and playing (even now) as a professional musician, Brent
Rogers brings original music creation to the forefront at Rex. His
abilities as a composer and music producer as well as his knowledge
and access to an impressive list of Portland's finest musicians and
songwriters/composers, gives your project the added possibility of
uniquely Portland music. Brent has the skills to produce original
music that is right for your creative work, commercial or movie
soundtrack.
In 2003, Brent began his journey into 5.1 Surround Sound mixing when he deployed microphones above the upper balcony at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall (home of the Oregon Symphony) for the purpose of capturing natural reverberations in upper audio regions of the hall. The cables still hang today and Brent has released over 20 recordings from the Schnitzer to date. These recordings are/were mixed in the studio in 5.1 surround sound to capture the feel of the live room.
As a result of the live recording for surround, Brent has become very skilled in the studio at the art of creating audio movement within a 360 degree sound field. He knows just how to add the right amount of motion to the picture, whether it's race cars speeding past the screen on the HDTV show "Driftstyle," or in a 5.1, full-length feature film for cinematic release such as "Trainmaster."
If you're cutting your own film in Final Cut, Vegas or Avid and you need help with the audio, Brent can guide you on how to prepare the files for more efficient use of time in the studio as well as help you find sound effects and other sweetening.
